Praying Mantis Aftermath

One day, a nuclear accident occurred nearby, and the valley was exposed to high levels of radiation. The praying mantises were caught in the middle of it, and the radiation began to alter their DNA.
At first, the changes were subtle. The mantises grew larger and more robust, but their behavior remained the same. However, as time passed, the mutations became more apparent. The mantises began to grow additional pairs of legs, and their once small mandibles developed into massive, razor-sharp weapons that could cut through steel with ease.
As the years went by, the mantises continued to mutate. They became larger than humans, towering over their prey at over 10 feet tall. Their once docile nature turned carnivorous, and they began to hunt and devour anything that crossed their path.
The mutations were not without consequences. The radiation had also affected the mantises' reproductive systems, and they could no longer breed with their own kind. As a result, the mutated mantises became a separate species, cut off from the rest of their kind.
But the greatest consequence of the mutations was their impact on the ecosystem. The mutated mantises were now the top predators of the valley, and their insatiable hunger threatened to upset the delicate balance of the ecosystem.
And so, the once peaceful and gentle praying mantis had become entirely new. A fierce and terrifying force to be reckoned with.
